flv codec

what is the real name of the flv codec
i don't know ehy but i use klite codec pack 3.95 and i was able to play flv files perfectly
but for some reason i reinstalled the codec pack again and i think i must have unchecked something or must have it when i installed last xp and it doesn't play audio of flv files. the flv splitter is checked

but when i install my old codec pack klite codec pack 1.50 it plays the audio of flv file perfectly

give me some pointers

PS: does this have something to do with quick time?

FLV is a Flash Video file. I think adobe has an official player but they've always worked fine for me with VLC without any codec packs or additional stuff.
