DVD RECORDING PROBLEM

Hi,
I have a Panasonic DVD recoeder and I record from tv onto dvd-rw discs. My dvd recorder is new and I have been using it for four months now. My problem is that when I checked my recorded discs they are distorted. I never noticed this before. For example, on a football game that has been recorded, when there is a close up shot the picture is clear, but when the camera pulls out and there is movement during a play the picture has blurrs around the players and graphics. I have gone into the settings and tried everything. I have also cleaned the unit with a cleaning disc. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

On the original material, there isn't the same problem, correct? This would eliminate the monitor being the problem.
I'm thinking it could be the DVD recorder compressing the video data so it can record the data on 1 disc.
You could alter the data settings, that may fix it (force it to use a higher data rate).
