No sound from my pc at all. onboard sound or sound card

hi guys
I recently installed a new 500 watt power supply in my pc
since then i have no sound!
everything is unmuted. all drivers are installed (i've installed them about 4 time to try and get it to work)
i've even borowe'd my cousins sound blaster audigy pci sound card and that does exactly the same
when trying to play music in windows media player the player recognises the card and plays the song but no sound comes out of the speakers. i have tested the speakers and know that they are working perectly
the thing that's the most weird is that i have 2 operating system on 2 diferent hard drives in my pc windows xp on 1 and vista on the other and the onboard or pci card dosent work any both of them
any help would be apreciated.

Did u allready find a solution cause i have the exavct same problem.
My motherboard is asus p5ld2-x. I used both onboard and sb live card and both give me no sound xD.
Im sure all is unmuted. Plz let me know if u found the problem.
Im thinking about reinstalling xp but u say u tried 2 OS and still have problem.

sounds like, miraculously or not, new power supply unduced a hardware damage to ... wait... it does not make any sense.... 2 cards and 2 OSses? WEIRD
