Sound Issues with Older Games

I've been having odd sound issues with older games such as Alien vs. Predator 2, and the PC version of Bloodrayne. Basically backround sounds and sound effects are just fine, but the end of all the dialogue gets cut off. The characters will say the first part of a sentence and not the rest. I've attempted to to make the games run more slowly by forcing AA and antialiasing, and turning down sound quality but the issue is apparently out of my depth.

Current System Specs.:
Windows XP Pro SP3
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 (default 2.66GHz OC'd @ 3.0GHz)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Rev. 2
2048MB OCZ 1066Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
160GB SATA II HDD
MSI nVidia Geforce 8800 GTOC
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE
Viewsonic Q91b 19" LCD
Logitech MX518

My guess is that the system is too fast and it forces the dialogue events to run faster than they should but all attempts to slow the game down have failed in the result; the game still cuts off dialogue. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate the input. Thanks guys.

I do not have the solution for you, but suffice it to say the game in question you're talking about is circa 2001. I seriously doubt that the problem here is that the machine is too fast (well, it is fast for that game but that's not likely causing your sound issues).

I run games from the mid 1990s without the same problem. Every older game tends to have its issues, even when run on machines of their own time. There could be a patch for it, no clue. Just chiming in to say that I think trying to slow your comp down for it is probably moving in the wrong direction.

willing to bet its an issue with the sound card or drivers... (if you haven't already, try running the games with software audio mode instead of hardware, see if that helps?) those low end Audigy SE & even the "X-fi" derivatives, which aren't even really X-fi's, are picked up by many games as software based (similar to onboard audio) & not hardware accelerated.
