Video conference software?

Hey folks, does anyone have a recommendation on video conferencing software that can be used by two individuals in different states to communicate live via webcams (well, mini-DV on my end but can work as a webcam)?

We had moved and family and friends wish to communicate online through live video. I'm open to freeware or commercial software recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

Don't have NetMeeting and Meeting Space are out of the question for me. I'll try messenger. Was hoping to avoid so as not to deal with .NET passports and such, would rather have complete independence of the transmissions. But if somebody is aware of a commercial solution that doesn't require subscription to host services I'd love to know about it.

Skype seems to work very well for us. It is still along the "messenger" style of communications, but I use it to talk to our offices in Korea from the US at least 3 times a week.
