New to video editting...halp!

HOLY GARBAGE! I took some vid on my digital camera and mussed around with it with Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Premiere Pro after converting it from .mov to .avi...930mb file when I was done! It's only a few short minutes! How do I get the file size down and keep the quality? I converted to Divx with Dr. Divx but it reduced the viewable size so now I have a huge 930mb file and a tiny thumbnail Divx file....

What am I doing wrong, what should I be doing....I don't need DVD quality, but I see nice quality vids posted online yet they aren't huge files...what gives?

Go to premeire and drag the movie clip down to the timeline. Then export the thing again. Your filesize should go down

I assume your using a JVC camcorder. Those things are very annoying. I dont understand why cant they simply make their stupid cameras take in a more normal format instead of that crappy MOV nonsense.

Anyways, when I started video editing I got into the same fix as you with a borrowed JVC camcorder
