| TV, on my PC... how to do it?
Ok, total newb at this, but I was wondering what methods you guys use, if you happen to watch TV over the internet.. Either on your PC or sent to your TV.
I was thinking of getting rid of our Dish Network, and just using the PC to stream shows onto our main TV.
What sites are out there for programming? I'm assuming I'll need a PC tuner card...
Can anyone explain how this is done?
Also, are there FREE sites? Or are there pay sites?
Thanks! |

Tvtuner cards are used conjunction with external input sources, ie you wanted to connect your PC to your cable, satellite dish, vcr ect.
hulu joost and veoh are about the best ones I can think of. Most broadcast networks have streaming video of their popluar shows as well

Sweet, I've been checking out hulu... Seems really nice so far.
I've been watching The Office in 480p... The quality is great for streaming video.
Question, my laptop has a yellow jack on the back of it, I'm assuming it's for video...
I tried plugging it into my TV set, but get no video from it. I'm not sure if I have to goof with any laptop settings... I don't have any manuals for my laptop, it was received used... It's a 450rog Gateway... |

I've just done the same thing..and now NO cable or satellite bill. You will have to put some time in and surf around for free tv on the internet. DO NOT get involved with any sites that charge a monthly fee. It is NOT necessary. There are plenty of sites to get free viewing.
(There ARE sites that charge a ONE-TIME fee and I found them pretty reputable). Sopcast is great for sports.Officialtvsports is GREAT for sports but you do pay a one time small fee. Joost is good. TVants is good. TVUplayer is another. Hulu is cool. Veoh is as well. I look around for a good site and bookmark it for easy access. Some sites require some downloads.
So basically, if you just put forth a little time and effort you can be free of one extra bill every month.
Good luck! |
