Somehow while fooling around in Control Panel I opened add/remove hdw. and somehow deleted what apparently was my Audio program. I double clicked to bring up more info and poof it was gone. I didn't even recall the name. I looked in Trash Bin but not there. Where did it go?
Anyhow now no sound.
MomBoard = A-Open MX3W PRO-E
BIOS = Award 1998 PCI/PNP 686
PowSupp = Echo Star 325 W
Ram Stick = POWMEM 128 SDR-133
HdDr = Seagate 10Gig Mod-8T3 10211A
OS = Window 98 SE
This is a temp puter til I get my real one (XP-pro) fixed, but I can't figure it out.
Apparently the sound is on-board and this is what I need to address.
I went to the A-Open site and it is half in chinese or some such. No sign of my Moboard there for info.
Any ideas? Is A-Open considered a poor support outfit?
Audio chip may be a Audio Analog Devices Mod# AD-1881, but the driver I loaded didn't help.
I Googled and found a driver that was claimed to be for that Audio chip but had been lifted from a compaq site. My puter is not a compaq.
While downloading driver I placed it in C drive. Shouldn't it find it's way to the right place from there? A wizzard came up and did a bunch of stuff. Looked like I installed it but no luck yet.
Help appreciated
thanks
