It sounds like the bios is still looking for the add-in S/C.
If you right-click on 'My Computer' on the desktop, and scroll down to 'Properties' and left click on it, that will open a panel that has 7 tabs on it. Left click on 'Hardware' and then 'Device Manager'.... on that panel, scroll down to 'Sound, and Video Game Controllers' and left click on the +
That will open a list in which you should see the add-in S/C, and your onboard S/C. Left click on the add-in S/C, then go up to the top of that panel and left click on 'Action' and then 'Properties'. On the 'General' tab, go to the bottom and click the down arrow on 'Device Usage' ....Select 'Do not use this device'
Click 'OK'... Go back to the 'Device Manager' screen. Then select the onboard S/C, and click 'Action' 'Device Usage' and select 'Use This Device'.
Shut the computer off, wait ten seconds, and re-start. If the onboard S/C still doesn't work, post back, and I'll take you through a bios change...
