No sound in sound recorder

Hello.
I've got a small audio problem. I hear sound just fine in all of my apps except one -- Sound Recorder (sndrec32). The program appears to work when I record audio, but on playback no audio is heard. This seems like it would be a simple problem to fix, but I don't know how to. If there is something that needs to be reinstalled, I'm not sure what it is. Since I do want to use that program, I wonder if someone can help me?

Hey, a reply! Thanks! You helped me solve it.

Audacity would record audio only when I had the setting on "stereo mix". After that,Sound Recorder would work too. If I change that setting to something other than "stereo mix", neither Audacity nor Sound Recorder will record sound. There must be some important audio control somewhere that I don't know how to access outside of Audacity, but that's ok. Problem solved.
