Help with buying a sound card

Hello, i tried googling for a good sound card, but I'm just not experienced enough in the area to really know. Then came across this board. So here's my first post.

I bought some incredible M-Audio Studiophile AV 40. They are high quality speakers, and i wanted to buy a new sound card to improve the performance.

My motherboard is a M2N32 SLI Deluxe, it had decent on board audio.

Anyone know of some good sound cards out there that are within the price range of $60-$100?

I found this guy used for $50, and so i was considering getting it. What sound card do you guys prefer if you think this one is rubbish?


If i did get a sound card, i was thinking about buying some higher gauge speaker cables, any recommendations for that as well?

The M-Audio Audiophile 2496 SC is very stable and under 100$

As for the 'Speaker Wires' the AV 40's don't use them....

From M-Audio: Connections > 1/4" TRS Balanced and RCA Unbalanced Inputs

Ok, so i found a great deal on a a $150 sound card for $50. Here's the link

But as far as the speakers cables i was thinking about what plugs into this area.

I notice that my sound card doesn't have an input for that cable, but if you thought it would make a difference, then i could look online for an adapter.

You will have to use a 1/8 mini > 1/4 Phone Y adapter to use those cables... The M-Audio has 1/4 ins/outs and is made for this type setup, whereas the X-fi is made for desktop computer speakers...
