| Clicking from onboard audio. help please. So I recently built a computer with a Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P Motherboard that I bought off of Newegg. Now although this is my first ever computer build I did an incredible amount of research before I built it and made sure I really knew what I was doing before I built it and it paid off because everything is running wonderfully...except my audio. For some reason the audio clicks(a kind of sound distortion click) while I am listening to music, playing games, etc. It is really quite irritating. I don't quite know who, or what, to blame. I don't know if I got a faulty motherboard from Newegg or if there is some interference being caused by wiring in my case or if this is just a normal problem. In any case now I have to go out and buy a sound card and hope that solves the problem! Which is incredibly irritating seeing as the onboard audio is supposed to produce up to Bluray quality sound. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Here is my system: Operating SystemWindows 7 Ultimate (x64) (build 7100) Processor 3.60 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X4 955 256 kilobyte primary memory cache 512 kilobyte tertiary memory cache 64-bit ready Multi-core (4 total) Not hyper-threaded Drives 1140.13 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity 752.31 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22LS40 ATA Device [CD-ROM drive] WDC WD5000AAKB-00H8A0 [Hard drive] (500.11 GB) -- drive 0, s/n WD-WCASY3188817, rev 05.04E05, SMART Status: Healthy WDC WD6400AAKS-00A7B0 ATA Device [Hard drive] (640.13 GB) -- drive 1, s/n WD-WMASY6934290, SMART Status: Healthy Bus Adapters GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller MagicISO SCSI Host Controller Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller (2x) Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller (5x) System Model Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. ".... I also have my Processor overclocked to 3.62Ghz from the standard 3.2Ghz...."
Not wanting to ask this, but, have you tried the Audio with no OC'ing? The only other things I can think of are: D/L latest driver for the onboard sound, borrow a friends S/C and see if that makes a difference before plunking down the $$'s for a new one...

Try disabling autorun on your cd/dvd drive(s). Could also be coming from a noisy dc fan (electrically noisy).
Or do as bigBonehead suggested (first).

Hey guys. Thanks for the info but I already figured it out. :P Since I'm running the Windows 7 RC Microsoft hasn't come out with updates that support my onboard audio or the sound card I ended up buying but I preordered a copy of windows 7 so as soon as I get it Microsoft should start supplying the updates that include support for my onboard audio and sound card.
Oh and incidentally I tested this by installing a copy of XP on a clean HD and testing the audio and it worked perfect. I also did this with Vista and it worked perfectly with no other hardware or software alterations.
Thanks guys. |

Thats because Realtek hasn't come out with any newer drivers for couple weeks at least for Windows 7 RC Realtek
Realtek's responsible for the Driver updates not Microsoft, since its their hardware being used on that Motherboard.
Latest drivers is 7/23/2009. version R2.29
