| Best Software to Rip mp3's
This should be an easy one. I currently have version 8 of Roxio Creator and a trial version of Nero.
My main objective is to rip mp3s from CDs and DVDs and also to copy CDs for use in the car. I also want, if possible, for the CD copy to have the title, artist, album, instead of just track 1, track 2, etc.
Roxio has been acting up recently and Nero is a bloated program and I'd rather not pay to upgrade.
Any suggestions?

I've been using WMP (Windows Media Player) to rip CDs, can't remember about whether it can/will burn them - and I'm not too sure about whether it will rip DVDs (but I doubt it would).....

WMP will burn them also.
I generally use that also. (make sure you set it to rip as MP3, not wma) |

Yes. If the disc has it on there, it will. If not, there is also a option to "find missing album info" and while it's playing music, or video, whatever, it will be searching the interwebz looking for the missing info.
There is also Realplayer, and Winamp if WMP isn't your thing. I honestly have never heard of the app you linked to though. |

I use WMP for all my CDs too. It works good. I generally rip one in looseness formats for playing on my computer and safekeeping and another copy in an mp3 to put in my player

Ah, WMP only goes up to 192 kbps... Or at least, that's the best that WMP11 will go up to...
I think that WinAmp goes higher, but I haven't used it in a few years - so don't quote me on that.... |
