| Low Volume in Zoom Player, Normal in VLC & WMP11
I'm really at a loss about a sound problem that developed about two weeks ago. Some* downloaded videos are playing in Zoom Player 6 and 7 at a very low volume - or much lower volume than in VLC and WMP11. However, most music and TV downloads play at normal volume. Volume slide at max makes little difference. To give some examples, in checking four films and videos where this is a problem, two are AC-3 and two are MPEG-3 or MPEG (MP3) audio. I've installed codecs and AC-3 Filter for all of these, without any change. I posted this at Zoom Player's forum, but haven't gotten a response in two weeks. So, I'll try here. Any ideas about why this might be happening? Gnerally, I prefer Zoom Player for most videos. Thanks. |

I forget all I did to improve the situation, but for sure one step was setting MPEG audio (MP3) to AC3 in Zoom Player. |

I do not see where to set MPEG audio (MP3) to AC3 in Zoom Player. But I have found another solution to the issue : pressing Q in Zoom Player and enable the Equalizer, then I dragged up each volume control.

I wrote down somewhere that I had, but don't see where I did it now. I'll let you know if I figure it out. Have you installed AC3 Filter? The only disadvantage to the Equalizer fix is that the default settings are probably 100% volume, and anything above that will be distorted.
Btw, there's a nice little utility called Mediainfo - MediaInfo - that allows seeing the video and audio format quickly by running the mouse over the file.
Afterthought: go into AC3 Filter config and set MPEG to play with it. I hadn't done that before, but will check how it works out.
