Audio setup with laptop for new apartment

Here is the scenario:

We have an extra laptop we are thinking of using as a audio source. It doesnt have much of a sound card.

What sort of sound system would be best to hook up to play MP3s? Are there any systems that have thier own sound amplification and dont need much sound card capability? We may also hook up our tv to this for better sound,also. I m rather hard of hearing and really need to turn up the vol on the tv.

MP3's are very poor quality audio files to begin with. They were designed for streaming over the Internet, and listened to on Computer speakers/iPods etc... If you just want loud... get a set of computer speakers to plug into the laptop's soundcard. Something with 200 > 300 Watts should do. Check these out:
