New MB, Speakers - Still noise

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop that has been experiencing a "crackling" sound coming through the internal and external USB speakers. This occurs with a CD, DVD or MP3's on my hard drive. I can load I tunes - same thing. I am at a loss here - and so is Dell.

Dell has replaced the Mother board, and the speakers...but, the problem remains.

We have re-installed the drivers for the audio - still the same problem.

My systems has:

Sigmatel Audio & Sigmatel HD Codec

All drivers are up to date.

Any ideas are welcome.

Inspiron 9400
XP Pro Serv Pk 3
Intel T2400 @ 1.83 GHz
2 Gig Ram

Might be interference... Have you tried it in numerous places, with no mobile phones etc nearby?

I usually get interference on my Latitude if I have the AC adapter plugged in.

If you haven't tried it, unplug the ac adapter from the wall and see if it goes away.

Seems to be OK, thought, if i plug it in on a separate circuit or on the other side of the room.
