| dell latitude d600 windows xp stock hardware - no sound
According to everything I can access through the control panel and system properties, I have all the necessary hardware and software, and everything is supposedly functioning correctly, but I have no sound at all, not even error beeps. Downloaded and installed the latest sigmatel audio drivers, double checked all mixer volume settings (everything was already at maximum).
So do I need a new sound card? Is my computer just being a dishonest jerk and telling me I have a sound card when I really don't? Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Surely you must have plugged speakers or headphones into the audio slot in the back? If yes then it has some sort of sound card (most likely on-board).

Kaite, welcome to the forum... more info on your system would help... How are you trying to listen to the sound? What app?... Headphones/Speakers... post back...

xp professional 2002
service pack 3
pentium 1.6 ghz
512mb ram
sigmatel audio
there is no sound through any device: onboard speakers, external speakers, headphones. no system sounds, or sounds for any program. i've gone through the troubleshooter, but everything it said to check was already functioning correctly. haven't done anything with the bios.
this may be a double post, got an error the first time. |

You still have not mentioned what audio application you are using to play sound with... That info may be critical in solving your dilemma... |
