    headphones/speaker switch, is it possible?

    Hello,
I have been an avid headphone-wearer for PC gaming for some time, but recently I purchased a pair of speakers to use for more mundane things that don't demand headphones.

    My headphones:
SPEEDLINK / Products / PC Accessories / Headphones & Microphones / Headsets / Medusa NX 5.1 Gaming Headset

    My speakers:
    Edifier MP300 Portable Speaker

I would like to plug some sort of switch into my computer that will let me flip between either of the devices. I don't know anything about audio equipment. Can anyone tell me if this is possible and what needs to be done?

You don't need one. Just turn off the speakers with their mute switch when you don't need the speakers. Leave the headphones hooked up. If you only have one output, just get a $2 splitter to keep them both plugged in.
