Visteon Mach MP3 Music System HELP!

I have had no luck in creating a playable .mp3 disk. My truck has a Visteon MACH MP3 player Vistion in it (radio, cd/mp3 player) but I cannot get any .mp3's to play in it. I have tried 3 times and all I get from the .mp3 player is "ERROR". I copy all the songs I want (which are already in .mp3 format) over to the disk. Check the disk on the computer and it shows them all as .mp3's. I put it in the player and it spits it out. I have Nero as my cd burner program. What am I doing wrong????

I assume you are burning a "data" disc (?)

Did you remember to close the disc? Or at least each session?

Did you note that the owner's manual specifically does NOT recommend 700 MB (80 minute) CD-R's?

Discs containing more than 255 files will not play...

Doesn't Nero automaticaly close the disc? Not sure about the session part.
Did note the 700MB CD-R. I am using 700MB but only putting 620mb or so on the disk.
Haven't even come close to putting 255 files on the disk.

    Few pointers would help..
1: How to I know the disc has been closed and or how do I close it and or each session.
2: Best way to copy .mp3's over without the software trying to decode it and so it will play as a CD?
3: Copying it as a "data" disk is the only way I could keep the .mp3's as .mp3's.

    Unhappy

Sorry, Sweeper, I normally use EZCD Creator.

I do not know how you can confirm that the disc is closed under NERO.

Other than perhaps a disdain for your brand of CD-R I can think of no reason why this is not working. It may be time to contact the manufacturer.

    Hope you get tunes soon!

I will assume you used CD ROM (iso) choice to create the disc in Nero I don.t see in the manual it specify ISO 9660 but it is the most likely format the radio would use. To finalize you must choose "Finalize CD (No Further Writing Possible!)" on the burn tab page in Nero. Not sure how to check after burning if it is finalized except to try and burn more to the disc if it does then it was not finalized. I would be very interested in hearing how you get this to work since i will be expected to answer questions about these mp3 playing radios at work (I am a tech at a Ford dealer).

I downloaded the latest upgrade from NERO and used DATA copy and stopped at 650MB. It worked. ? Go figure. I talked with a rep. from Vistion and he suggested using the DATA copy instead of burning as a normal audio CD.

Glad you got it to work.
I am not sure what you mean by "data copy" in nero. I wonder which choice you made on the new compilation window for example "CD-Rom (ISO)" is the first choice. Or maybe you have nero express then it is different. I only use nero to burn svcd's from mpg files. I did check at work today we have no vehilces with the mp3/cd radio on the lot so i could not check the ones i burned. Only know of one we sold with it so far and i had nothing to test with then.

    Thumbs up

Glad to hear you've had success!

Now let me suggest Exact Audio Copy (EAC) for ripping and, of course, LAME for encoding. I can't deal with nasty sounding MP3's!
Using the combo I've recommended at 320 CBR (or high bit VBR) can yield MP3's that even many audiophiles can enjoy.

Friends don't let friends use nasty codecs. Just say "no" to XING.

Here is how I did it:
    Brought up NERO Burning Rom
    NERO Wizard
    Compile a New CD
    DATA CD
    Create New DATA - CD
Finish & drag and drop files
    Burn

    -DONE-

Unhappy I need a little help!!!

Hello, I am having a similar problem. I bought a Sony Sport MP3 Boombox. I have burnt my cd's every which way possible, as a data and as a mp3 cd. I have burned them w/ 3 different burning programs, HP's Record Now, Nero and also Adaptec Easy CD Creator. I have also changed the bit rate on them. I have changed it from a Joliet to an Iso also. And they still won't play on my mp3 boombox. Some tracks on some cd's will play and others don't, then on other cd's they won't play at all. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. If you want to email me directly, that's cool too. My email is kjmackie@attbi.com Thanks for your help!!!
