Mic won't work.

My microphone doesn't seem to want to pick up anything. I even went out and bought a new one thinking it was a problem with the mic itself, but the problem is continuing with the new mic. It won't work with Skype or just the regular sound recorder on my computer. I noticed though that if I am playing music and try to record with the microphone, my music is recorded, but not my voice. So, it's recording from somewhere else? I don't understand. I checked everywhere I could find and it's not muted anywhere. Please help.

What type mic are you using? Specs would help... Also, how are you getting the sound into the computer, and what sound card do you have, What OS?

I have the same problem too.. my OS is vista, the same with my brother's computer.. when I am talking with my mom via yahoo msngr., my mom is asking me if I am not feeling well because of my voice.. it sounds like I am in a room with acoustic boards in it.. and worst, it's echoing.. please help me..
