    Where did the sound go???

I'm not sure exactly when it happened but out of the blue I had no more sound coming out of my speakers. Where did it go???
I unpugged the speakers and started from scratch. When I hold the speakers to my ears I can hear the music, I just can't get any volume. I know the sound card is fine cause I plugged in another set of speakers and they wotrked. I have checked all the volume controls also.

The card is a creative sb pci
    The speakers are Labtec LCS-2414 Audio/x w/subwoofer.

It's to quiet in my office now

Sounds like your speakers are fried, since you have tried a different set on the sound card. Check to make sure you are plugging them all the way into the jack.

I'd point the finger at the amp in the speakers. However, before you decide that, try replacing the power supply (wall wart brick) and see if that does anything.

Most amplified speakers have a transformer that converts wall current to the appropriate, lower DC voltage needed to operate the amplifier in the speakers. They plug into either the wall or power strip and are typically 2 to 3 inches on a side. They're known colloquially as wall warts or power bricks.

try adjusting the cord that goes into the power brick - i had the same problem you describe and discovered the cord had slipped out slightly; plugged it back in and it worked again.

Well, I think they've had it. I took the speakers ot of the
casing (<--??or is it housing??) The wires are all connected fine. I haven't checked the Wall wart brick a little later today.

    Thanks
