    webcam mic on yahoo messenger

I have a 5.1.0 Lab tech webcam which includes mic function. When someone is viewing it on yahoo messenger they cannot hear the sound. I made videos with it and on those videos the sound is present. When I make a voice call with yahoo msngr I get sound but that must be the regular mic. Is there a way to just use the webcam with its sound function without using the call feature (just use the 'invite user to view webcam')?

I haven't used YM lately, but all IM programs have an audio setup option where you need to specify which microphone to use.

Look for something like 'preferences' or 'settings'.

In preferences I can locate something to adjust the mic volume and which one to use. The webcam isn't there as an option.

Here are the latest drivers I could find for you web cam: SoftD.com - Labtec Webcam Installation with Drivers 5.1.0 Software Details

Maybe they will help... maybe not. Hard sayin if it's that, or other problems with your system.

Hi, I have the CD that came with the camera.I was thinking that trying to download your recommendation migh mess things up. Why would downloading a driver cause it to show up in the mic options if the one on the CD didn't? i think its supposed to show up in the system> device manager of the control panel. I couldn't find it there but the camera shows up there. I know a mic works because I've made recordings with the webcam and they have audio. It might be using the mic I have plugged into the back of the computer. That seems to be the case because if I unplug the mic from the back of the computer I get no audio when I make a video. Does the camera software install a program that synchronizes the computer's mic with it? Also I don't see any mic opening (like a little hole) on the camera.Creative audio PCI.... is listed in the sound section of device manager. In the logitech capture test window the box that says capture audio is not checed (by default apparently). Frame rate was at 15 which I changed to 33(it can go higher). Is that smart? I have a 630 Mhz processor,256 RAM memory and run windows ME. Thank you

I use Yahoo Messenger 10 and i changed some options in Preferences->Calling and Audio. Look there to see if is selected your card.

Latest version of YM: Download Yahoo Messenger 10 , Yahoo Messenger Download - Chat and send messages or make calls - Place77.com

Also, check on sound card options (not in YM) id Microphone is enabled.

Thanks , I checked in Yahoo preferences>calling audio and my webcam isn't listed I don't think the cam has a mic on it. I think somehow the software or computer synchcronizes the camera with the computere mic. there's no labtec (name of the camera) mic listed in neither device manager or sounds and multimedia .Only the camera is listed in the control panel.
