    Front Audio issue

OKay ive got a problem....The front audio on my averatec e1200 doesnt work properly...when i put my earphones in the sound will turn off....but when i leave them a little bit outside, so that they have connection but arent completly inside the sound works....i think the laptop thinks that the front audio s part of the loudspeakers and when headphones are in it shuts the loudspeakers down(also my headphones) my question is: is it possible on win2000 to change settings of the audio driver (AC97) so that it wont shut the loudspeakers down when it recognizes headphones

The system is shutting down the speakers because of a physical switch dis-engaging them when the HP's are plugged all the way in... therefore, a short answer to yer Q is No....
