    PC to TV VGA Help

    Hi!
I'm trying to connect my Vista PC to my TV. Unfortunately the TV was struck by lightening and the only thing that works through it is the cable outlet. I have VGA and HDMI outlets on my computer so I bought a VGA to RCA converter which is then connected to a RCA cord into a cable converter box which is then connected with a cable cord to the TV. Yea, it's a lot of connections.

I've successfully used the HDMI to TV setup with another TV, but I can't get the setup I described above to work. Are there too many connections? Some kind of setting I need to fix on the computer? Is there any other way I could get my computer connected to this TV?

    Thanks in advance!!

First, you are talking about connector types and not signal types. You must speak the right language!

You say you bought a VGA to RCA converter. Is the signal coming out of the converter a composite video signal. Is that what the cable box calls for on it's RCA input?

BTW, for the computer to recongnize the extra vga output is connected it must be connected when the computer boots up. At least that is the way it is for many.
