    Laptop won't recognise DVD writter after ERecovery

    Hi Can anybody help me please I have no Idea what to do, My laptop had serious problems on it so I had to use ERecovery on it to take it back to factory default so it was like I had only just brought it except it has backfired and now my laptop wont recognise or even acknowledge the E: Drive whenever I put a disc in It acts as if it is trying to load and then it just stops and nothing appears I have tried going to my device manager and seeing if there is anything wrong with it except it's saying the device is working correctly when it's not!!, I have used ERecovery before and this never happened I dont understand why it has done it this time. Please help me!!

    Hi Coco-Kelz,

    Welcome to TechIMO.

    It would be helpful if you provided the make and model of your laptop and operating system.

    Test 1
    Set the BIOS to boot from the DVD.
    Try any boot disc, if it does not work, it is probably a bad drive.
    or test 2
    If you are old like me and have a floppy drive, and have a copy of win 98 boot discs, boot with that, and any CD should work after booting.

    Both these methods eliminate you operating system,as these programs have their own drivers, and will work every time, unless there is a hardware problem.

    This will work, with no hard drive installed, at all.

    Edit;
    This will at least, narrow it down between hardware and software.

    As Osprey said, we need specs to go any deeper.
