Dvi sound?
I have my xbox connected to my samsung 940mw via hdmi too dvi. As i am aware dvi does not carry sound. I have looked up how to solve this problem and come across people using an rca jack connected to the headphone socket. But i don't understand how this works? Could i do that then attach an rca cable from the jack to a pair of rca sockets on the tv would that work?
Any help is much appreciated.

Hi t_11!,
Welcome to TechIMO.
You're exactly right. You need a separate audio cable to carry the audio signal to your speakers or whatever audio device you care to use.

though I suspect this is another VLC player spam post, not that VLC is bad, but we had another one a week ago...
but I'm Sorry TRUE GAMERS do not go out and waste money on a game system they don't plan on currently using, and use the excuse "Just in case a good game may come out for it", you buy it because a good game WILL or HAS come out for it.
(Whats odd is mention IN CASE a good game comes out for PS3, meanwhile you listed 3 games that HAVE come out for PS3...?)
second of all you don't mention if you have those games, and third, assuming you don't, WHY do you need to hook up a game system to your PC's monitor that you only intend on using if and when a good game comes out?
if you have those games, great, but if not, would it not be totally pointless to hook up your relatively useless PS3 to your Monitor?
and the last statement also doesn't specifically ask a question, just states you want to hook it up to your monitor because your TV doesn't have HDMI...
So just hook up the system to your monitor... not much else to it.
I would hope your TV does, if your willing to shell out $200-300 on a game system, you may or may never use... sounds like you have money to burn, in which case a HDTV you would have, SHOULD have HDMI on it...
maybe spend some money on a TV that HAS HDMI on it?

In the bigger cities of Canada we're not allowed to have fire arms for self-defense, but even I think having a gun and having the proper training to use it, in that situation could have prevented her...
