Connecting PC to LCD TV - No Audio
Hi folks. After an hour in Samsung's tech support chat room, they told me to call tech support. So, I'm seeking help elsewhere before I jump off that bridge again. Not very good at the terminology, but I'll try my best here.
I recently picked up a Samsung 46" LCD TV (LN46C670M1FXZA) and am attempting to hook up my desktop to it. I ran an HDMI cable with a generic HDMI to DVI adapter I had laying around, so the DVI end is plugged into the graphics card (GTX 285) port, and the HDMI end is plugged into the TV's "HDMI 1 / DVI" port. Video is working fine.
The manual shows a PC connection using the above-mentioned "HDMI 1 / DVI" port for video, and the "PC DVI Audio In" port with the mini-stereo / headphone jack type of connection. I tried this first using a 15' extension that has a few different adapters to choose from, and then a short headphone jack cable at the end. No sound.
Next, I tried using a Y splitter on the audio cable so that it ends with the red / white RCA jacks. I tried various ports on the TV, but no sound. I switched the PC Video to one of the generic HDMI ports, but I still couldn't get the PC audio to play through the TV or the stereo which the TV runs through. (Note: Tried with the stereo disconnected and TV speaker volume as as well, just to be safe)
The audio cable is working, this much I know. Connecting the RCA jack adapter straight to the stereo allowed the PC audio to play. Also, swapping out my Blu-Ray Player's red/white RCA jacks with the PC leads resulted in the Blu-Ray Player's video on the TV with the PC's audio playing. For some reason, I just can't get the PC Video and the PC Audio together. I'm stumped.
Here's the online paperwork on the TV.

Hi Ugarte,
Welcome to TechIMO.
The easy way to do this is using the headphone/speaker jack on your computer, whichever you have. You only need a 1/8" jack to dual RCA cable. Very cheap.

Tried it, having the headphone jack of the PC's Audio Out split into the Red/White RCA jacks. Like I said, it can send the signal to a stereo, and it even works when swapping out the blu-ray player's audio cables. I just can't get it on the same channel as the PC Video, for whatever reason.

It's probably highly rated because of the level of violence. The story is decent.
