    Digital voice recorder output problem?

    Hi everyone,

last week I bought a 2G digital voice recorders from Gadgettown, the only problem being it doesn't hook up to the computer. It does have a earphone jack, though...through which it must output an electrical signal, which reaches the earphone and is converted to sound waves.

But, is it possible to have a device that receives the input similarly from the digital voice recorder, and then writes it to a flash card in a useful format - for instance, mp3 or wav or (probably more feasibly) ogg vorbis?

I have no so much experience in messing around with hardware like this, but this *would* be possible, yes? How would I go around doing it? Please help me? Thank you.

    Hi Lawrens,

    Welcome to techIMO.

Are you looking for a different device that can write WAV files to flash memory? Or something that can work with this device you just bought? I think most MP3 players that have an integrated recorder will write WAV files, but I'm not aware of devices that can encode live recordings directly to compressed formats.

Thank you for your reply, i can't find a device that can write WAV files to flash memory, but i think maybe some program or devices will allow to convert WAV to MP3.

I have a Creative Zen Vision M and the recorder feature writes WAV files. So does my son's iAudio MP3 player.

For converting to MP3, there are plenty of programs. I use the LAME encoder with Foobar or EAC.
