No sound from the speakers of my HP Mini 110-3000

So, i am a marine in afghanistan, and i have a HP Mini 110-3000 with windows 7 starter. it has been working fine, playing movies and music, but yesterday the speakers just stopped. i checked the mute but it was off. i scanned for a virus, but found nothing. i ran tests and it said the speakers were good. we restored the system, diabled the audio drive, then enabled it. restarted it numerous times, we even uninstalled the audio driver, downloaded it again from the hp website, then reinstalled it, still no sound. i tried to call the hp tech support, but we are using a crappy sat phone and it cuts out. does anyone have any idea how to fix this? watching movies with my team is the only way we can remain sane here. thank you

So the audio does not come from the speakers or the speaker jack?

I'm wondering if it has something to do with so-called codec's?

Do you hear audio from youtube? YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Find out if any hardware has a question marks next to it. Looks something like this picture.

You can also try the audio option in the control panel too. The settings might have changed.

To open the Windows 7 sound troubleshooter, Click Start, enter audio in the search field and select Find and fix audio playback problems from the list when it becomes available. The troubleshooter will detect and explain how to resolve the problem. Follow the on-screen instructions.
