WinDVD, PowerDVD wont play any dvds

I finally updated my old DVDRW which i was using purely for playing DVDs and got a blue ray drive, Liteon iHes208 08.

Since then however, no DVD player software will play any DVDs. both powerdvd ans windvd see the disc in drive but once u start it, just stops straight away.

i can play thru vlc no issues.

Ive tried a number of different versions of players, re flashed the drives firmware...

    This is pissing me offf!

    Hi Custodian79,

    Welcome to TechIMO.

When you install a new drive, you usually need to reinstall any DVD decoders.

    Thx for the welcome osprey4.

But it works with VLC so the decoders are there. i used to use powerdvd 5 it was old but did the job without hassle. i had gotten powerdvd 8 with the drive and decided update so installed it but didnt work.
after reading that Pdvd 8 had issues i went further and installed powerdvd 10 with the blue ray support seeing i have a blue ray drive, and still no go. i tried a win dvd 10 and still didnt work. so after all this crap with the new ones i decided to just go back to the original 1 i was using pdvd5 but reacts just like the rest...

The decoders would have been installed wih the updated players. like i said it works with VLC so they are there but i have no idea y windvd or pdvd just wont play

No idea. That's pretty strange. VLC of course doesn't help with blu-ray. If you own a retail version of any of these, I'd try contacting support or check the Cyberlink forum.
