You need a DVD burner, unless you failed to mention it, it looks like you only have a dvd reader and a CD burner...
A DVDRW can be had for under $20 shipped.
Then you need a program like CDburnerXP to burn the video files to disk using the DVD video option that will create the necessary Audio and Video files structure

Uh you do realizes CDs and DVDs are two entirely different formats right? A CD player, burner or otherwise will not recognize a DVD so no you could burn a DVD in your CD burner .

You can rip the files from the DVD to the HD and convert it down to something more manageable but a full length movie is going to be larger than a CD can hold.

A CD burner will only burn CDs. You need a DVD burner to burn DVDs.

if you read my first post i said i used a dvd shrink program to get the movie down to 4.25 GB still to large for a cd

can any dvd burner work in my computer, i seem to recall having an old one lying around in a box somewhere?

As long as you have an available IDE or SATA port (and the corresponding cables), sure, it should work.

I dont know if your getting what were saying and agreeing or trying to tell us a CD will hold 4.25 gigs, sooo....
CD = 700 Mgs of data
DVD = 4.7 Gb of data
    You'd need nearly 6 CD's to equal a DVD

Didn't even see that, however that is not the shrunk files size that's the full file size!! DVD rips generally can be shrunk down to an AVI file size of about 700-800mb, or just outside the size limit of a CD. Some movies can be shrunk down to CD size it just depends on the length and settings you use.

Anyone that has the connections your motherboard supports. IDE, SATA ect.

Well I'm sure he started with a dual layer DVD9 disk and shrunk it down to a standard DVD5 size.
There are VERY few boards even currently that dont have a dual IDE connector onboard, and even if you did all that would be needed is a PCI IDE add-on board.
Same with SATA, you have to go pretty far back NOT to have a SATA connector but if not, again with the Add-on

Also getting the files size down, when using programs like DVD Shrink (or other programs, been a while since I used one), but you can strip out the extra Languages, as well as 5.1 audio if you only need stereo and other extra's down to just the video (for example, just the Video, 2.0 Stereo and English) should help save some space.

the other option for a DVD Burner if you lack the internal connections, albeit much slower burning speeds due to bandwidth, but a USB based External Burner.

    Not suggesting this one, just using as an example, but something like this would work too: Newegg.com - I/O MAGIC Black 8X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 4X DVD+R DL 8X DVD-R 8X DVD-RW 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-R 10X CD-RW 24X CD-ROM USB 2.0 External DVD Burner

    Or any of these: Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,CD / DVD Burners & Media,External CD / DVD / Blu-Ray Drives,DVD Burner

Of course if you still only have USB 1.0/1.1 burn speeds will be slower do to slow USB port.

But an Add in USB 2.0 expansion card doesn't cost much either (similar to the IDE or SATA expansion cards JP mentioned, in which case one might as well go his route and get a cheaper internal drive with the card and plug it in)

Just one more suggestion for upgrades/add in's for drive.

Something like this, which is similar to what JP was mentioning about, would be fine: Newegg.com - MASSCOOL PCI Card, 1 external SATA + 2 internal SATA and 1 internal IDE Model XWT-RC018

Question I have to ask, how many Hard drives and Optical Drives (CD/DVD) do you have installed?

If you have 1 Hard drive and 1 Optical, each IDE connector can support up to 2 Devices per connection, just need a Primary/Slave Cable to connect 2 devices to one port.

if you have 3 or less drives currently connected, you could connect that extra DVD burner to the system along with the other drives, if there's a spare connector on the IDE ribbon cable, assuming it will reach to where the drive is mounted.

Ideally you would replace the CDRW with the DVDRW, since its an all in one and can read and write to all media
The DVD could still be used to read DVDs

Ok, so 4 drives currently installed right now? Not including the DVD Burner?

If so, then as JP mentions below, then yeah, replace the CD burner with the DVD Burner, and keep the DVD Reader installed.

This way, you can read from DVD and CD on the reader, and Burn DVD and CD on the Burner.

Also would also you to do straight rips/burns from one to the other with out using Hard drive space, but of course if your ripping a DVD and downsizing it, you'd want to have that stored on the HDD first before burning to DVD.
