Using computer as PA
Hi, My wife is an avid Kareoke'r or ist or whatever
. What I want to do as I have a nice surround system is this: All her kareoke is mp3+g on the computer. My computer has HDMI out to my surround system and TV for the lyrics/music. I want to get her a couple of mics so she would be able to have her voice come back through the system as well as the music. I would think I would need a mixing board with about 3 jacks at least to plug the mics into, but from there I would think the board would have to be USB to go to my computer which I have seen USB mixing boards but I am not still that I would be getting the right thing for this application. . So basically I want to go from the mics -> mixing board -> computer -> HDMI to receiver -> speakers/TV
Thanks in advance!

You've got your mixing board in the wrong spot. You'd plug your mics and computer into the board then the mixing board out to the receiver. Video would have to be on a separate line. Otherwise you'd just want to run the mic and everything through the PC which can be done so log as you only want one mic but with two or three IDK.
edit: I guess you might be looking at something like this Amazon.com: Acesonic KM-112 Karaoke Mixer with PC to USB Interface: Musical Instruments
I was thinking more of an actual sound mixing board.
