    You Tube and All That

Very often when I want to watch a short clip on You tube I have problems with the extract running smoothly. It stutters and stammers-and stops " loading" appears from time to time. It starts again- stops again and the whole experience is quite annoying. Is there anything I can do to rectify this- like downloading some software that will enable it to run more continuously and smoothly. I already have Adobe Flash installed so that cannot be the problem

    Hi Oscar,

There are several possibilities. Could be your internet connection, some service or background process preventing smooth video, or possibly a hard drive issue.

Try this. Go to any YouTube video and let it start but quickly hit the pause button. Allow the entire video to load before hitting the resume button. If you then see a nice smooth video, then it's a connection issue.

Let me know what happens. It would be helpful if you tell me about your computer and operating system when you post back.

Thanks- After the whole clip loads when I press the pause, and replay the clip, it plays very smoothly. But that is only to be expected becuase it has had a chance to load, and replay. I use Windows XP professional and I am told I have a very high quality fast processor on my computer.

How fast does your Internet service provider (ISP) advertise your download speed? Use this utility and move the slider to that setting.

Also, are you running any programs in the background? Like utorrent or some other variant? And if there are programs that have automatic updates on, you should turn them on to manual instead. Java and flash are good for that. You can change the updates for Java in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javacpl.exe Microsoft Silverlight the same thing. For flash you will one day get a pop up saying there is a new release, there are additional options in this pop up to change for automatic updates.

Just a few things I would change so that nothing can possibility tie down your connection speed.

    Hope this helps, good luck!
