5770 HDMI sound quality
So running HDMI from my computer's video card (saphire amd 5770) to TV that runs composite RCA to my stereo (Sharp HT-DP3000) that only accepts RCA
What I'm getting for sound quality is pretty much bass only.
I ran a auxilary cable (3.5mm connections on both ends) from the computer to the TV and that works fine, but I want to be able to use my 5.1 surround sound.
So the question is. could it be the new HDMI cable, the TV's HDMI connection or the video card's audio just being that bad.
btw almost went a full year without posting >.> I missed this site kinda

It might very well have something to do with the Digital to Analog signal conversion. HDMI transmits via Digital, Composite is an Analog signal. Could be something is getting lost at the TV outputting to the RCA plugs.
But thats just a guess, no idea for certain.
On my end, I either use a Sound card with Coaxial Digital Out or my current Mobo has a Coaxial Digital Out for Sound to my Home Theater so its always Digital no matter what. I also use a DVI to HDMI Converter cable, and input via HDMI into my monitor.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

I'm thinking it's more the HDMI cord or the video card though cause i can play the xbox (which I'm using a component cable for) and watch the antennae TV (hey I'm a cheap bastard, ok?) with better sound quality than the computer.

thing is, using the Component Output for Xbox 360, its outputting Analog audio with the video signal as well (though capable of a max of 720p HD Video), so little to no conversion on the TV's end to pass through to Stereo.
Does your Xbox have an HDMI output at all? if it does, try connecting that to the TV like the PC and see if it results in similar sound issues.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

I cited the xbox cause I run the component's audio to the TV not the stereo, probably coulda been a bit clearer about that.
As for an HDMI output, no first gen xbox didn't have hdmi ports just overheating motherboards.
I'm gonna hit up microcenter today anyway I'll pick up an hdmi cord while I'm there and see if it's the cord.

thats is how I understand it. TV cop shows being the end all and be all of knowledge indicate that once boxed in a person can clam up and plead the 5th.
