I already asked a mod to delete your first post, as there's no need to make duplicate postings for the same thing, and since this thread is what you should of done in the first place, no need to have a revived dead thread with the same thing asked in it.

I looked the card up, and sure enough there is no Win7 drivers, from what I have tried to find out it uses some sort of proprietary Phillips sound chip, Something Avenger sound chip or something like that.

If this is just a rebadged Realtek or C-Media sound chip (I didn't dig around that much to find out), you might be able to get Windows 7 drivers for it, or at the least Windows Vista drivers that might work.

Otherwise, since its a/was a fairly cheap sound card, might have to just buy a new one, that would fill in, in its place.

cconsidering the card dates back to 8-10 years ago, it won't be that hard to find a card that is superior to it for cheap these days.

Myself I'm not 100% sure, but I would think the lower end Asus Cards would be more than enough.

Right now I mainly use my motherboards Onboard Audio, but for years I have used a higher end HT Omega Sound card, Striker 7.1, that is around the $75-80 range, but wanting to get one of HT Omega's higher end $150-200 range cards.

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Soundcards, Speakers & Headsets, Sound Cards, ASUS

one of their cheaper cards should be adequate, if not at least the same or superior to the old Phillips card.

when you say Digital Out, do you have a SPDIF 3.5mm Output? Coaxial Digital Out, or Toslink Digital Out?

I don't remember which output connector the Z5500's use, I'm assuming its a 3.5mm SPDIF connector.

Otherwise, Diamond, which swallowed up Phillips cards I believe, or maybe it was the other way around, I forget, but they have a cheap card that would be as good:

    Newegg.com - DIAMOND XtremeSound XS71 7.1 Channels 16-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card

otherwise for music, these would be much better IMO: Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Soundcards, Speakers & Headsets, Sound Cards, HT Omega

but those aren't exactly cheap, and that Striker 7.1 is at least 5 years old now, and still commanding a high price.

what ever you do, don't go for a Creative card.

is the digital a standard Headphone jack? (3.5mm jack)

Is it a Coaxial (Looks like a standard RCA style Composite connector)

Or Toslink, which is Fiber Optic connection, square-ish looking connector?

Nevermind, I looked up the card again, and its the green 3.5mm jack (SPDIF).

then one of those cheaper Asus cards should be fine.

just make sure its a PCI slot version, as some are PCI Express x1 slot as well.

Unless of course your motherboard has a PCI Express x1 slot available, then you could easily use one of those also.

There are two ways to install this card on win 7 :

1 - open windows update and in the category " change settings " , put a check on " Give me recommended updates the same way i receive important updates " . then run the check for updates and let windows install all of them ..This is how i usually install (successfully) the difficult to find Audio drivers like the "Conexant Ac Link Audio"..

2 - Try to install the XP driver by letting the card search for the best driver and directing it to the contained folder ..

    Good luck .
