Question
Low sound volume with Dvds

I have a Artec 16X Dvd drive. When I play Dvd's you can hardly hear the sound. I have increased the level of the windows sound applet. But still get no more volume with Dvds.

When I play Audio Cd's I have no problem. Also when I play Mp3's on the drive I have no problem. Does anyone know what is going on? I am using WinXp Pro. I have a XL 5.1 Dvd soundcard.

tia

I had this same problem. I cannot remember exactly how I fixed it. It was either by adjusting the volume control somehow through windows, downloading the latest driver for the dvd, or installing software called powerdvd. One of them helped however.

i was having the same problem w/ powerdvd w/ it set to TruSurround XT if you have it set to this changing it to DolblySurround should do the trick for you. just tinker around w/ the audio settings until you find what is best for your current setup. Good Luck!

In PowerDVD XP advanced audio options, you can specify 3 environments. Quiet, normal, and noisy. The noisy will boost the audio output. Hope this helps,

Thanks for everyone's advice! I tried some of the solutions and the sound has improved. I still have to turn the speakers all the way up. But I can hear that the volume has increased. Again thanks for all your help.
