DVD player error: "not accessible: Incorrect function" help
Okay... whenever I try and use my DVD Rom drive it just gives me "Drive E is not accesible: Incorrect Function." No matter what I try to do with it that's what it says. Audio CD's, DVDS, or nothing in the drive at all... It's the same message every time. I tried reinstalling the drivers and power DVD and restarted my computer several times. There's still no difference what so ever. Has anyone seen errors like this before? If you can help, please do. Thanks

I have seen a similar error. It happens when I access a CD-rom or DVD-rom when no disk is in the drive or I try to access the CD before the Drive detects it. I get the message: "E:\ is not accessible, Device is not ready". Are you sure your DVD Rom drive is the E drive? If you have more than one CD Drive try right-clicking the DVD-ROM drive in "My Computer" and click eject. A drive should open and that will be the drive that corresponds to that drive Letter.
Was the DVD-rom self installed? I always put my CD/DVD roms on one IDE Channel and my hard drives on another.
PowerDVD wouldn't need to be reinstalled until the drive actually works because the default CD player should play an Audio Cd.
The problem would have to be installation of the drive or drivers.
Also make sure if the IDE cable is connected to pin 1 and the power cord is connected securely to the drive if it has been self installed.

I tried right clicking and hitting "eject" on drive E:, and it was the DVD-Rom drive. The drive was self installed, and it is on a seperate IDE from my two hard drives. I open up and checked all the connections. I also changed the jumpers to set my DVD to master, which didn't do anything. I don't know if the thing just randomly died or what. I barely used it, and now It doesn't work at all... Any other suggestions let me know.

You could have a compatibility problem with the DVD Rom and your System, but I don't think that that wouldn't be the case because the drivers should fix that. You might have a bad IDE it would hurt to replace it if all else fails. The drive opens and closes because of the power cable I think.
I think I had that problem with my CDRW. The IDE cable they gave me when I bought it was junk. The drive opens and closes but I could use it. I replaced the cable and it works to this day.
Is the device listed to be working in the Device Manager(windows OS).
Just keep messin' with it. That's what I do. Then finally I get it.

Looks like Ford production in Australia will be shut down by 2016. That likely means saying goodbye to the Falcon. :/
