I am after some tools or an app that will allow me to edit a .VOB file. I want to be able to cut a sequence out of a .VOB file and then re save it as a .VOB file. Anyone know of any utilities that will allow me to do this?

Vert -
I dunno if you have a whole lotta drive space but it is possible to rip a DVD (.vob) file onto your hard drive with CloneAD . If you're using 2K or XP and the drive is formatted as NTFS, Clad will allow you to rip the .VOB as one large file. After doing this, you can change the .vob extention to .avi and watch the movie with M$ Media player. To do any editing, you'll need something like TMPGEnc I guess. I'm not sure if that really answers your question of "how to" as I go through the encoding process instead.
A helpful site for dvd questions.
Of course I say this with every regaurd for copyrighted material. I like to watch my DVD's on my lappie and still be able to use my cdrw\dvd drive at the same time. Course The Matrix is something like 7GB so it's not practical to leave that movie on a 40 GB drive.

Well, you don't want to rename a VOB file's extention to AVI. 1. because it's not an avi file (I believe they are mpeg-2 files), 2. it's not necessary, your media player will play the VOB file just fine.
As for ripping the VOB files from the DVD to your HD, I've always heard that Smartripper is the best. Although personally I had better luck with DVD Decrypter. http://www.vcdhelp.com is a good reference site. |

I usually use "Smartripper" to rip DVDs, I remembered about the chapter ripper the other day and ripped the chapter with the sequence in it and then used "Vobsplit" to cut it down to size |
