Wanted to add that once you send back a part to the manufacturer, the replacement that they send you back is 90% of time not a new item. They are refurbished, and it it in your terms of use agreement that parts are not garunteed to be new.
I had the same problem with my gateway monitor. First one blew up, 2n, 3rd, 4th, 5th (waiting 7-10 businees days for each to get here, and hours on the phone.) Finally the SIXTH monitor worked. This doesn't says that gateway sucks, just that I had a stream of really bad luck.
EDIT: Wow I thought this thread was from 12/11/03 not 1/11/03!!

I hate to keep bumping an old thread... but the only person other than Lartamas that had problems with the Promedia 5.1 was Auraedge our very own TIMO moderator. I'm about 95% sure he had the same problem with the set going out. |

Overall, Klipsh makes very high quality speakers. We are talking about a few subs that have given out. Woop-de-friggen-do. If you really think its a problem, call the BBB or sic the MaximumPC watchdog onto them watchdog@maximumpc.com |
I am not grumbling and have not been very unlucky.. You need to do your research Tony and others before opening your mouth.
I forgot all about this but I actually went thru 10 Klipsch 5.1 subs...Comming right from klipschs warehouse. UNLUCKY??? BAH HUMBUG!
I also hate this forum as far as posting..I had alot of info on here and went to post it and it said I needed to relog on..ARRRG...
So to make this shorter, I will say this. I was instrumental in getting Klipsch to extend the warrantee period to 2 years and also got them to replace peoples SUBS. (Actually the whole set) Thats right Tony!! Get this straight! Its not the speakers its the SUB! And its in the 5.1 Promedia Not the Ultras, well at least as far as I know...I dont have the ultras.
Here is my post on the forum before Klipsch officially posted theirs below: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/vi...ng=&sessionID={CEA79FE1-9938-4892-906D-63D2138AE849}
Check this thread if you doubt me! http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/vi...ng=&sessionID={CEA79FE1-9938-4892-906D-63D2138AE849}
And if you further doubt that thread from Klipsch themselves..
Call and ask to talk to Gary Poynter...He is the returns manager that I had hours of contact with among others at Klipsch, but it was he that really listened and took me and 1000.s of others seriously! They hired 2 engineering firms to find out what the problem was with the subs. And I got mine replaced and fixed with a brand new unit. So did many others!
Also I have so much info on this I could right a book...but if your sticker on your sub has a ink dot on it then that sub is suppose to be fixed.
Ok? Thanks for the replys...
Just know, when I post its to help others not to start a flame war.
P.S. I did contact the watchdog long ago and they did NOTHING!
As far as they are concerned I can get more done myself by going right to the top!

Anyways, I will go to state that I have an older set of the Klipsch speakers, the old 4.1's which I believe the model number is v2.4? I can't remember, but I can't say that I have had a problem yet, and I tend to do careless and stupid things to speakers at times.
I'm a little shocked that you are having so much difficulty with your set(s) because I thought that Klipsch was a respectable company, but I'll keep that in mind next time I purchase their products. |

| You need to watch it little boy! I asked a simple question(which you still havent answered). No reason to blow up. And if you have had 10 subs go bad, I would call that extremely bad luck. Quote: |

| O boy folks, this one has a PH.D in Obviology. I fully understood what you said the sub failed the first time!
Congrats on getting them to extend the warranty! Quote: |

FYI: Klipsch is now replacing Promedia 5.1's with Ultra's for free! If your set is bad and your warranty is good, send them back and call up Klipsch and request a set of Ultra's and they will replace the 5.1's with the Ultra' for free. The 5.1's did indeed have some major problems. The new Ultra's do not as their amp and everything is redone and fixed.
Klipsch tried their best to fix the 5.1's, but even the 03 models were bad. As I said, the Ultra's are fixed. Klipsch extended the warranty on the 5.1's as a result of them failing so they could recall bad models.
My 4.1's are still happily humming along. I am very pleased with them. |

so no more hum? | hum? What hum? If your 5.1's have a hum, you've got a problem and need to return them. That's an unusual problem.
I personally would find some way to break my 5.1's just to get the Ultra's. They're a huge improvement, especially in the sub area. |

Just like MD1032 said: Klipsch has been aware of the problem with the Promedia 5.1's and even has a deal where they have extended the warranty of all 5.1's by and extra year (or maybe it was 2) in case your sub goes out down the road. But from what I hear of Klipsch customer service- the warranty doesn't seem to be that necessary since I've heard of many people returning speakers that are over a year or even two old.
The fact that they extended the warranty and even replace systems that are out of warranty gives me confidence in the company. I have not had personal experience with returning items to them, however my friend's 5.1's gave out and he had little difficulty replacing them from Klipsch. He recieved his new 5.1's about 2 days after Klipsch recieved his old set- very fast I think.
A funny, pointless, and unrelated story: I thought my 5.1's gave out on me once (no sound coming out of the speakers) but what ended up happening was my friend didn't know how to turn the off so he accidentally turned them to headphone mode so naturally there was no sound output from the speakers. Gave me a scare that was for sure .
