Splitting audio files
I would like the split my GTA3 radio file (wav) into separate files so I can burn them as separate tracks to a CD. What software can I use to do that?

Welcome to TechIMO!

You can use the built-in software that comes with Windows. Not sure which OS you're using, but basically it's Start--Programs--Accessories--Entertainment--Sound Recorder. Very easy to edit .wav files there...you shouldn't have any problems. Try it out...

Welcome indeed. I have a creative recorder I can also use it's in the Creative foler in programs. Personally, I think it works better, and it's much more sophisticated.

ACK! Who wants MORE sophisticated???!!!

I just gave him the Sound Recorder option because I have no idea what software he has available to use...you can use your Creative software, but I doubt he has that same software.

I'd use Goldwave for something like that. The interface is so-so (took me forever to find the play button), but theres actually graphic representation of the wave is extremely helpful, so you can end it as soon as the "deadspot" starts, in which the line representation of the wave file should be a flatline, so its easy to see. Screenshots are here. Direct download for latest non-beta version is here.
Works for MP3's too...The last tracks off CD's sometime have about a minute of silence, and then a bonus track. With this program, you can cut them into two different MP3 files, and cut out the silence.

I use MP3 Trackmaker to split MP3 files, it works well. That is after you convert the wav. to MP3 with CDEX. That's how I would do it anywho

WMP is good for ripping stuff off of CD's, but it rips them into .wma, which is really big compared to MP3, although not half as bad as wav. Anyone have some kind of converter you DON'T have to pay for?

Cdex is free and converts to MP3,as well as rips to MP3 from CD. Very good utility IMO
