can i copy a copy-protected DVD onto a VCD?+

how can i get a copy-protected DVD onto my hard drive or a VCD? Software recomendations?

It depends where you live whether it's illegal or not.
All dvd's are copy protected, follow mrluigis links.

I have used dvd x copy 1.3 to make a copy of a dvd, as for VCD, I use VOB http://www.vob.de/ to do vcd's tho I have only tried one vcd before.

i'm using Any DVD Cloner (http://www.any-dvd-cloner) to burn copy-protected DVD to DVD discs.

i think you can use another freeware DVDSmith Movie Backup (DVDSmith Movie Backup: DVD Decrypter to copy DVD movie to computer hard disk, and remove all the CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and Sony ARccOS protections) to copy the protected DVD onto your hard drive first, and then use other free burning software to burn the entire folder to VCD.
