2 systems, one set of speakers
Hi everybody!
I have two systems and only one set of speakers. Is there any problem I can cause if I get an audio splitter and run the speakers to both SCs?
Thanks
Dave

Bring your wife to the room and run a recording of your voice telling her to make you a nice pot roast at low volume, then run some music on the other pc.

Nope, it should work without a problem with your speakers or PCs ..
But! i can`t guarantee that you`ll never have a sever headache out of this setup, if two songs were playing simultaneously

Yup it should work just fine, Radio shack is where I got my spliiter, I used mine for headphones/speaker ...Not sure what would happen if both systems output to speakers at the same time tho =)

lol, I doubt I'd ever have music coming from both, but it would allow me to have sound on both systems without the clutter of two sets of speakers.

Why not plug the line out from one into the audio-in on the other? Then you could set it up to play all sounds and you only need to control volume from one PC.

Interesting KC2iLq.
I tried a splitter. When I plug in the secondary system, it overrides the sound from the main machine. So, I get no sound from it. As soon as I disconnect the secondary system, the sound from the main system comes back on. This is with a very nice but older set of Altec Lansing speakers.

Dave, Radio Shack makes an inexpensive switch box for audio to run 3 line level signals into a receiver (at least that's the way they market it). Works great for this application. Run the SC outs to the switch box, then switch box to speaks. You'll need some mini-plug to RCA adapter plugs to make it happen, tho. I'll be doing something like this soon myself.
There's only two things in life. But I forget what they are.
