Altec Lansing 251 speakers... any good?
I am thinking about getting the altec lansing 251 speakers for 70 bucks at buy.com, over the logitech z640, since I mainly listen to music and the logitech's are too bass-heavy.
Anyway, I was looking at the sell sheet, and it says:
60 Watts Total Continuous Power (RMS)
Front Satellite Speakers:
5 Watts/channel @ 4 ohms @ 1% THD @ 75 -
22000 Hz (-3dB) 2 Channels Loaded
7 Watts/channel @ 4 ohms @ 10% THD @ 70
- 22000 Hz (-3dB) 2 Channels Loaded
Rear Satellite Speakers:
6 Watts/channel @ 4 ohms @ 1% THD @ 65 -
12000 Hz (!!!!) (-3dB) 2 Channels Loaded
7 Watts/channel @ 4 ohms @ 10% THD @ 75
- 18000 Hz (-3dB) 2 Channels Loaded
Rear satellite speakers 65hz-12000hz?
This doesnt look normal to me... I know that most sounds are below 12000 hz anyhow, but what does everyone else think?

Well, I got the 221 set, and while the tweeters offer good quality, the sub is really funky, sounds horrible, and is actually out of tune when compared to $8 HEADPHONES. Sorry, but if you can afford the ATP4 or 641 models, go for it. In fact, try the Logitech Z-560's. Basically, anything but these. The sub will drive you crazy it's so bad.
edit:
You're telling me?! Boy that's one heck of a bad range!!!Originally posted by Amgis
