Converting ogg vorbis to WAV?
What software (free preferred
) should I use to convert ogg files to WAV?

why would you want to do that? Ogg vorbis is a lossy format so the quality is going to be alot worse than if you jsut rip it straight to wav.

I think winamp will be able to write any format it decodes.
Just select the disk writer plugin from it's preferences and play away.
Heh, and be sure to click shuffle and repeat off before you do that

The best (in my opinion) program you want is OggDropXPd. Simply drop an Ogg file onto it, and it will convert to Wav. (Drop a Wav and it will convert to Ogg)
You can find it here (look for OggDropXPd. If links are broken, PM me and I'll send the program to you)
A large (shareware/freeware) list can be found on the OggVorbis website
Hope that helps!

True, Ogg is a lossy format, but converting an Ogg to wav won't make it sound any worse than the original Ogg and Ogg is quite good as far as lossy encoders go. Ogg Vorbis is designed to match or exceed MPEG-4/AAC and is far superior to even the highest bitrate mp3's.
crazyray...
Check out this site for all your encode/decode needs: Speek's ... and it's all free!Last edited by JohnE.; March 6th, 2003 at 03:04 AM.
