Need help DL'ing broadcast..?
http://www.oneplace.com/Ministries/F...y/Archives.asp
I ran into a guy I know today and he wants to know if he can downlaod some of these broadcasts and burn them to a cd to listen to in his car. I told him it should be no problem.
Well of course I get home and look and they are real media type stuff...streaming.
Is there any way to download them?? if there is I can probably sell him a cd burner.
I tried right clicking and going "save target as" but it wont work.
Any way to do it??????
Thanks, JP"Even a fool is thought to be wise if he is silent"

JP:
If these are streaming media, you can't just save the file. It plays as it comes in, in packets. The only way to save would be to record them as they stream by using something like Creative Recorder, but then you have to sit there while it plays. Kind of defeats the purpose.
By the way, I heard the second of the series on STDs Wednesday night. Wow, what an eye opener that was!

Dang it, I told the dude it would probably be no problem to dload. I wasnt thinking about streaming media....I did remark that maybe they want you to pay...then I got home and saw that indeed they do.
I wonder if Jesus or Peter or Paul were around today what they would think of it all since they never seemed to charge for their sermons or charge "attendence fees" etc.

On my linux box I have a small app (forget the name) that intercepts the audio stream as it comes out of /dev/dsp and writes it to file instead of playing it. Worked well for recording some Nirvana sessions.
No idea if thats any use as you may not have access to a *nix box, but I will try and remember the name of the app anyway.

You can also try using x-fileget, its an older program (from like '98 i think) but it's been pretty good to me (i still use it). I've used it to download anythign from a large some of files (sort of like a download manager) or tto get real media files, keep in mind though that you wont always be able to get them with it but id say ive had about a 50% success rate. Just google x-fileget... it's out there somewhere, lotsa bad links and stuff, i found it on some obscure noname page a long time ago.
