I have a goofy Modem/Soundcard combo...(modem not in use). So the home theater will have to make up for its slackness....but then again..I could just use some winamp plugins....

The stereo miniplug to RCA's is the way to go. If you need to do a fairly long run and are considering using speaker wire to extend it, AND you're going into line input of some sort on the stereo, there's a "gotcha" in here.
There's a very good chance that running speaker wire instead of shielded line-level cable in that extension is going to cause hum in the audio. Try it with the speaker wire first, but if it's hummin' solder in some cheapo single conductor plus shield cable to extend it.

There is only about 2 feet between the two......except its in another room on the OTHER side of the wall.. So I'm just going to put it through the floor and come up the other side.....might end up being 8' or so at the most.. |

we just use the cassette adapter that came from a walkman.
I plug it into the speaker output jack, and drop the cassette in the sterio (it doesnt have a line in connection!?!?)
Works great for movies and mp3 files!
Just keep the PC output low, and use the power of the sterio!!
Good luck. |

I'm trying to do what cruez is doing, but in reverse. I got the splitter from radio shack. The guy said it is a stereo splitter. When I plug it into the line in on the sound card I only get sound on one side.
I plugged it into the mike jack and it comes out on both, but if I disconnect one of the cables I still get sound on both sides.
I think this splitter is mono or the two channels into one. Anybody have any help on this? If the sound card is stereo should'nt the line in be stereo? |

I have the all black. I didn't think about the colors, so simple.
I'll have to see if they have the colored ones, don't recall seeing them when I was there. |
