Will SPDIF and Onboard Sound Work Together?
Can SPDIF and onboard sound output sound at the same time? I would like to know this because I would like to keep my 4.1 system hooked up and have my stereo hooked up at the same time so I can acheive 6.1 sound. Anyway, will they output sound at the same time? Thanx.

I haven't been able to on the few boards I've tried...
EDIT: I just re-read your post and I've tried to do that on sound cards, but not mobos. So, maybe someone with an nForce2 could help. One thing you could do is, turn on your digital output, then keep your analog speakers plugged in. If you still hear sound out of the analog speakers, then it's probably safe to say that you'll be able to use both at the same time. From my experience, when I've tried to enable the digital, my analog speakers don't make any noise.
BTW, unless you have an nForce2 board(which has Dolby Digital out), you will only be able to get Stereo PCM out of the digital out.
