I was thinking about getting a better soundcard, to use in some simple audio production, nothing fancy.
What's the best audio card for music production for under $200
I've been looking at the M-Audio Delta Audiophile card and also a Terratec card.
Opinions? |

If you only need stereo-in, stereo-out capability, the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 is an excellent choice. Which Delta can you get for less than $200?

That might be the one I'll get then. I have no use for multiple ins / outs yet, as I'm recording in my apartment. |

The only negative is there is no CD input on the card but there are ways to get around that. I have the card myself haven't done much recording yet though

The only thing to watch out for with the Echo stuff (like the Mia, Layla, etc.) is that it plays nicely ONLY with Intel chipsets. Been that way from the git-go, their claims to the contrary aside.
Just a word to the wise. |

Mmmm, MOTU. Oh wait, you said less than $200. Doh!
The M-Audio looks like a good deal, but with no experience, who knows?
Personally, I had no problems doing multi-track stereo recordings with my Audigy using Cubase.
And I got to play games in surround too. |

Dude, my old computer has a SB PCI128 and I've done audio recording on that. 6-7 mono channels at most tho.

Yeah, send me a MOTU system and I'll send you my dirtbike. |
