Voice/Mic Problems

not sure if this belongs here or in gaming, since it deals with both, if needed, please move

Problem:
My sound card is a SoundBlaster Audigy. My ability to use voice has been gone for about 2 months now. I need some ideas from you guys on how to fix it.

Symptoms:
Using the setting "voice_loopback 1" enables you to hear your own voice while logged into a server.

This is what I've done and I can here my voice but it is broken up. The light on the right hand side (red or blue depending on which team) indicates that I'm talking but turns off and on even though I hold the voice button down constant. This off and on is almost a perfect off and on oscillation.

Things I've tried:
voice_dsound 1 in command line
reinstalling drivers and software for sound card
flashing bios for mb
updating drivers for mb
Counterstrike 1.6 seems to have the same problem
tweaking some settings in mb bios that creative suggested
reinstalling CS completely fresh

Things Ive upgraded in past 2 months:
Added 2 additional hd's
Had to repair Windows XP install because some overclocking *** I naively attempted and failed at - this is what prompted me to reinstall sound card drivers and software
upgraded to a ti4200

when i try sierra's voice setup, it sounds perfectly fine. just when i go into game it does the oscillation thing.
i recorded myself talking into the mic, using windows sound recorder and it comes out fine.
so one way i found a work around was enabling my onboard sound, now everything works great.

but i want to use my audigy sound card since i paid good money for it .

these are the drivers i am using:
straight off of creative's website:
audigy platinum

drivers latest from there website:
"AUDDRVPACK_L11.EXE"
Sound Blaster Audigy DriverPack
Date: 12/31/2002
Size: 12.67 MBytes
Drivers are WHQL Certified

if you can some how help, i would be greatful. thanks again

anyone? im having the exact same problem with this card. its not hardware because i was using this card with a diffrent driver and the mic worked fine in counter strike. but i didnt have all 5 speakers working, only way to get speakers right was to install proper drivers and then the game mic problems started.
