| Problems With Sound, Possibly Hardware Conflict
Ok I got Soundblaster Audigy Drivers Installed, and Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 Speakers, I got no sound coming out of them, but I know my soundcard is setup properly...funny thing is when I go into my device manager, under sound it has my audigy **** AND it has some Legacy Audio Drivers....I think those Legacy Audio Drivers are from my onboard AC97 sound card....if thats the case I need to remove them b/c they are more than likely causing a hardware conflict....I have the AC97 card disabled in bios, but in windows it wont let me uninstall the legacy drivers, only option is to upgrade em....I need to find a way to delete those drivers, or does someone know another reason why I may be having a problem? Please refrain from using profanity here.
More info about the rules in our FAQ.
Thank you

I would also like to add that the sound was working fine, but as I was in the middle of a game in warcraft3, the sound just clicked off and it has never come back since =/ |

You should be able to disable the AC97 card in the Windows Device Manager.
Check all your connections to the card and such? Check the mixer to make sure nothing is muted? Small things I know, but...
BTW, we try not to use profanity 'round here. And welcome to TIMO. |

If it was working fine, then just quit, it's likely to be a hardware problem. I would enable the AC97, and see if the speakers work, and vice versa, make sure the audigy works before going any farther.

I tried enabling the AC97, but the sound still didn't work, and I even took out my Audigy card and inserted it into a new slot, and things still arent working, I have no clue what could be wrong it was working just fine and then poof just stopped out of nowhere. |

Ok this is weird but, I plugged my headphones into the master volume headphone port, and I can hear sound....that means my soundcard is working properly and that means its probably something with the speakers =/ |

Try plugging the headphones or another set of speakers into the same port you had the Klipsch speakers plugged into. If they work, then you DEFINATELY have a speaker problem. If not, then maybe that particular port is bad. Not that I don't think that it's anything but the speakers, but you may want to try that before packing things up, so you don't end up RMA'ing the wrong item.
